Happy Place

After what has been a frustrating week for training (to say the least), today I managed to make up for it a bit, getting a couple of nice solid sessions under the belt. Getting in a couple of good sessions (as per the plan too) has been great physically, but they have provided an even greater, and much needed, mental boost. Has certainly helped me feel much happier about how the week has worked out.

In fact this morning's session wasn't just good because it occurred, but it was actually just remarkably good in general. The session was the longest paddle I have ever done, and on top of that I ended up holding a really nice average speed. The higher speed was a little unexpected, but I suspect it is a bit of a silver lining from all the missed training this week, my guess is that I was carrying a bit less fatigue this morning and the fast session was a result of that. Not that I am complaining.

The way I am feeling now really speaks to what I wrote earlier in the week about keeping things in perspective and not making mountains out of molehills. In the end all it has really taken is a good solid day of training and all feels right with my world again. Deep down I knew that I would need was some good sessions to make things feel right in the world again, but it can be easy to forget that and get a bit carried away in your own head sometimes.

Great to get in some good training, the world feels like a happy place again.
