The flat feeling I have had all week has continued in the last couple of days. In fact waking up yesterday I was feeling particularly average. As I have said all week, the HRV measurements I have been taking have appeared to correlate with my feeling of extreme averagness and that continued yesterday and today, with my HRV readings being rather low.
Yesterday I took my HRV reading as a prompt to have the morning off, before going for a run in the afternoon after I had picked up a bit. Another low reading this morning made me strongly consider going back to bed, but I was keen to get out so I modified the session instead, bringing all the intensities down.
The frustrating thing is that besides feeling pretty tired and beat down, I have been feeling okay(ish). Certainly not 100%, but not like I have had a cold or anything, certainly not sick enough to make me think that I can't train, but unwell enough to feel terrible when I am training. Based on how I have been feeling and what I have been measuring, my theory is that I have a mild version of a cold, not a full blown, lie in bed dying cold, but just a touch of one.
Based on this theory, my great hope is that I will start to feel better again soon. My thought is that if it is mild cold I should start recovering again pretty quickly. I have no medical backing for that theory, but it is a nice idea. In fact, just this afternoon I feel like I have been picking up a little bit. That pick up might all be in my head, but I hope not. I guess my HRV measurement in the morning will give me a good indication one way or another.
