Quite splendid

An fairly perfect day for training today. To give you an idea, today looked like this.

That photos is pretty much unedited, the day really was that nice.

To make the most of such a nice day I was out and about a fair bit today.

The day started off with a nice spin with the Break Your Limits Junior squad. The squad was quite small today as much of the group had the Australian School Sports Triathlon Championship last weekend. That race was more or less the end of the season for those guys and so they now have a few weeks of well deserved mental and physical break. After that they will be raring to get back into it. Without the School Sport contingent of the squad today was really just the older Juniors who all had their break following the Junior Australian Championships in March and are now back in training for next season.

Riding with the Juniors was a nice relaxed way to spend a few hours out in the sun. The ride today headed to the hills, with the squad splitting once we reached the base of the hills. The older members of the squad headed into the hills while the younger members (and myself) headed back home. It would have been a nice day for a spin in the hills, but I was happy to turn when I did, as the ride was still 100km. About as far as I want at the moment.

Whilst the ride to the hills was nice, it hadn't actually been the original plan. The original plan had been for the younger members of the squad to do an interval ride followed by a run off the bike. However, two of the three people supposed to be doing that session forgot their helmets and so couldn't ride on the road. With two thirds of the group missing, Coach Steve decided to just make one big group and head to the hills. Needless to say he wasn't happy. I have said before that I have been impressed with how Steve is tough but fair with the squad. It is an approach that seems to work well with the squad. Today there was quite a bit more of the tough going on. I don't think anyone will be forgetting their helmets again any time soon.

After the ride the day's action just continued to roll in.

First up was my daughters hockey session (the first for the season) and after that I managed to get in a brief bit of Standup Paddling.

All up a rather splendid way to spend a spectacularly nice day. With any luck there will be more of the same tomorrow.
