Hooray, some training today. Admittedly it wasn't a lot, but it was something.
Yesterday I decided that things had been going well enough to try jumping on the Kickr this morning. Last week the physio advised me to make any increases in exercise gradual ones. Do a little bit and see how you go, if you are okay, do a bit more etc. With that in mind I was only on the Kickr for 30 minutes this morning. So far so good, so I am hopeful of being on there for 40 minutes tomorrow.
I still can't put any weight on my bad shoulder so riding on the Kickr involves a lot of sitting up and some one armed riding. Not ideal but it gets it done. Makes me realise that I definitely can't be out on the road yet. Not safely anyway. Hopefully soon, but not yet.
I was also keeping the intensity very low, the focus for the session was just to be active, rather than doing any real work. Consider that box ticked.
My aim for the week is to work towards getting an hour done on the Kickr, but I will cap it at that until I see the Doctor on Monday. It isn't much, but it is better than nothing.
Good to see that the fitness etc hasn't completely disappeared in the week and a half I have had off since 70.3 Western Sydney. Deep down you know it won't, but it is always a fear in the back of your head. Building back up to race fitness will be a long process, but hopefully jumping on the trainer now will decelerate the rate at which I am losing condition. Anything I can do to make the road back to race fitness just a little shorter will be a big help later on.
One step at a time.
