Trends

So I have noticed a trend developing over the last couple of years in Triathlon. A trend which I think you could trace it almost directly back to Kona in 2013. It is a trend that I am not sure about. At first I wasn't in favour but now I may be slowly coming around. The trend is of course Trucker Hats.

Now I have recently come into possession of my first trucker hat and will soon be in possession of another. This has forced me to confront the issue head on. What do I actually think of them, do they look good, look bad, would I run a marathon in one...

All major issues.

Trucker Hats
As I said above, when Luke McKenzie rather famously wore a trucker hat into second place in Kona in 2013 I wasn't really sure what I thought about it. I didn't think I would want to run in one (I still don't) and I thought the flat brim looked a bit funny. Now they have been around a bit longer and they are sort of everywhere I have become a more used to them. My reluctance now stems from unfamiliarity rather than from any particular dislike.

Will I be wearing my new trucker hats? I am not sure, time will tell. I am planning on it, but I am waiting for the right occasion. I have been told that it looks alright which is good, I have a giant head which works in my favour when it comes to filling a trucker hat. Looking acceptable is important since it is hard to fully buy into a fashion if the general consensus is that it makes you look like a fool. Watch this space, or more superficially the space just above my head.

Also there was a bit of training today. Riding around the river on a very lovely morning. Sometimes you go out to train with the end goal in mind and sometimes you go out to train because it would be criminal to not. This morning was a bit of both.

I wasn't wearing a trucker hat though. Perhaps next time.
