Better in the long run

Pretty proud of myself for cranking out the race report yesterday. I have a bit of a busy week this week so I knew if I didn't get to it yesterday I might not get there until next week. Very nice to have got it done.

Very much in post race recovery mode at the moment. I didn't have any training yesterday and I am not sure I would have been up for it even if I had. I pulled up pretty well from the race on Sunday, but I woke up yesterday just really weary. Not too sore, just tired. Even though I wasn't that sore I thought it would be a good idea to grab a massage to help aid the recovery. With that in mind I was down to Sportstreat yesterday afternoon for an appointment with Teresa, who from henceforth shall be known as the Mistress of Pain.

In the name of all that is sacred that was a painful massage. You know when you have to keep telling yourself that something will be good for you in the long run. That was my mantra during the massage yesterday. Quads, calves, glutes, you name it I had knots in them. Big, screamy painful knots.

Still, just as you know it will, I woke up feeling better this morning. Slightly abused, but better. Training this morning was a light spin on the trainer and once I got myself through the first few minutes I actually found that I was feeling pretty okay which was very nice. I wouldn't want to be climbing up any mountains any time soon, but it feels the body is pulling up from this race quite nicely so far.

Swimming in the morning, but no Swim Smooth mega session for me. Rather tomorrow's session is all about recovery. Training this week will slowly start to ramp back up at the end of the week, but for now it is all about turning the body over and getting moving again.
