Officially taper o'clock now.
One of the best sleep ins I have had in recent memory this morning. I think I was asleep for over eight hours or so, which is pushing a PB. One of those beautiful mornings where I had the luxury of waking up naturally. No alarm clocks, no children waking me up early (they slept later than me for a change). I woke up around 6:10am and thought 'I guess I had better get up and get ready for work'. Nice relaxed morning.
Well it was a nice relaxed morning up to the point where I remembered that I had an early meeting. Then it became a rushed morning, which then matured into a busy day.
Oh well at least I got a sleep in.
Frustrating sort of day though since I started the day with a big list full of good intentions of all the stuff I needed to get done today. As of now I have officially done none of those things. Just been a busy day. Not busy in a constructive way though, just busy in an endless meetings sort of way. Sometimes you get caught up in having a long weekend full of training, relaxing and race prep and you forget that you actually have to work sometimes too. Luckily nothing that I had on my list today was particularly pressing. So hopefully I will have plenty of chances to get it all done tomorrow. Hopefully...
Training wise there is nothing on the agenda tonight either. It really is a full rest day. I think I will get a head start on my packing though and get the bike packing process started. For once I actually have a decent flight to a race, which means I am not flying out at 2:00am or anything. Given that I could probably afford to leave all my packing until Thursday, but I have a bit of time on my side so I might as well get a head start.
A bit of training tomorrow, starting with a swim and then ending with a ride. Always nice heading down to the Tuesday Swim Smooth session. I don't make it down there very often and so it is a nice change from the routine. Tuesday is a bit of a tech/endurance session so it is usually very good race prep and quite a fun session.
