In Perth today we were promised Armageddon, a storm of apocalyptic magnitude. High winds, pouring rain, flash floods the whole bit as a result of Cyclone Olywn. I had organised an easy group ride for this morning and ended up cancelling it because based on the forecast there just wasn't any point. I know I wasn't the only one who made that call. Who would want to go out in those conditions. It had been talked up so much I was actually sort of looking forward to it.
In the end, what turned up? Not a whole lot of anything. A bit of drizzle, some unpleasant humidity. That is about it. Sort of a let down really.
If I wasn't on a recovery week I would actually be pretty annoyed. Although if I wasn't on a recovery week I wouldn't have cancelled the session either so I guess it is a bit of a moot point.
The silver lining to the whole thing though is that because I didn't head out training I have had a fairly relaxing day with the family, which, given I was away all of last weekend, is possibly a better use of my time anyway.
I will head out on the bike tomorrow though for an easy spin into the hills. I don't usually venture into the Perth hills, but I don't have anything specific on the program and so I am going to take the chance to head out there with the Break Your Limits folks. Should be a good ride for a few reasons. One reason is that it is always good to head out for a spin with friends. There is another reason but that will have to wait until tomorrow...
Hopefully I don't get lost.
