Back out running tonight. A quick jog before coaching down at the track. For that that remember the runs I did last week, while necessary, were not that pleasant. However, the run tonight was positively not that bad. Nice reminder that it all comes back pretty quick.
Tonight's run was only 30 minutes, but as described in a post last week about returning to running, my usual pattern is trying to get in a few 30 minute runs a week before increasing the duration. I have a bit of running in the morning and if that goes okay, then I think I will be all good next week to start creeping the distances up. Good news as running sure is a great and efficient way of driving fitness and it would be nice to get back to the 10km per run stage as that is a nice place to be.
One of the blogs I did earlier this week was about athletes being injured, and while we are very careful about athlete load and making sure we increase the load carefully, it is something that can be hard to get right, so I always try to be very careful when it comes to building running volume.
All up if feels like the rebuild of fitness that I started last week after my two week holiday is going okay. I get reminders during training that I am not quite as fit as I was before the holiday, when things aren't as easy as they usually are, but things are rapidly returning to normal. Another week or so and I think I will be about at the point I was before I went.
Sad fact is that it takes longer to rebuild fitness than it does to lose it, but it is also a fact that fitness rebuilds and all it takes is time and a bit of work. I think I certainly have the work bit nailed.
