Another medical update

Just a quick one. Quick but significant.

I had my check up appointment with my Cardiologist today. Those following along at home may remember that I had a cardiac stress test a couple of weeks ago. This was the most recent of my cardiac tests and was really aimed and checking that things were still behaving heart wise. At the time I felt like the test went okay, but really the final conclusion was going to have to wait until I had seen my Doctor again. Which was today.

Well, the short answer is that how things felt during the test was about right. No big warning signals, nothing really of concern. The test wasn't quite as good as this time last year, but I went a bit harder and the differences weren't significant. Pretty much under control was the medical opinion. Actually more than that, the results looked normal was the actual statement, as in, if I came in off the street with these results I would be told to go home and stop wasting the Doctor's time. I am going to take that as a win in this case. Also significant was that I was given permission to keep doing what I am doing (although not permission to go back to crazy Ironman training). Also a win in my opinion as doing what I am doing right now is about as much training as I want.

So that is that. Not quite a clean bill of health, but about as close as I am likely to get these days. Another test in August (an echocardiogram in this case) and then if that is all good then nothing for another 12 months. From there we will be in a 12 monthly check up type holding pattern for a few years and then from there... Well who knows, hopefully given the nod that I don't need to see the Doctor anymore.

It doesn't seem like that big a deal at the moment because I was fairly sure of the result and it isn't going to change what I am doing day to day, but really when I think about it, kind of an important day. Certainly some kind of conclusion to the crazy journey that started about two years ago.

Thank goodness.
