Made it to the end of another week. High fives all around.
I am exhausted now but all up it has been a good week of training and coaching. Nice to have a normal week between two work trips.
On the training side of things this week has been great for starting to feel normal again, some promising signs of improving fitness on the horizon. Ways to go and some kilos to lose still, but definitely on the way. It will be annoying to interrupt that training for a work trip next week, but I think I will might be able to train a bit while on this trip so hopefully the interruption isn't too great. The one gap in the training has been my running, but at the moment I am focused on a paddling event at the end of the month, so I am happy to prioritise race specific training over running for now. There is something to be said for the value of race specific training after all. Will be time to get back into running later for sure.
Coaching has also been good this week, a couple of sessions taken, some programs updated and athletes consulted. A pretty normal week really, but there is something nice about that. The run session with Stadium Tri Club last night was a particular highlight. A hard session on a hot and steamy Perth evening, but made fun by a eager and energetic group of 20 or so athletes. The efforts were hard and the sweat plentiful, but there is a lot to be said about the energy that comes from training with mates and last night was a great example of that. The atmosphere brought by the group is one of the reasons that this is one of my favourite sessions to coach.
Now, time for a bit of sleep before hopefully logging some solid training time this weekend.
