BAU

Sorry for the lack of post last night, as I mentioned it was on my to do list to write one, but the day just sort of got away from me and by the time I got there it was simply too late and I wanted to get some sleep. Apologies.

It has been a bit of a business as usual (BAU) week for me so far. As I mentioned I had Monday off work to do some chores around the house and was subsequently exhausted on Monday night and yesterday. As a bit of a reward to myself I had an afternoon off yesterday and instead spent the time with the family, around the house etc. Very nice.

Now that I am feeling a bit better I am getting back into the swing of things, a bit of training this morning, a bit more this afternoon the usual caper.

One thing that there hasn't been much of has been coaching. Usually I would have coached a session yesterday, but most of our Front Runner athletes took part in a rather epic race simulation event on the weekend and so training for the first half of the week has been pretty light. This light training meant that the bike session last night was a self directed recovery ride, no coaching required. A bit of a nice break for everyone I suspect.

I will be coaching my weekly run session tomorrow night though which is always fun. Haven't quite decided what we will do with the group (I have a rough idea), but it is always a tough and challenging afternoon and something that I always look forward to.

Besides actually coaching sessions one triathlon related thing I did yesterday was speak to a potential new athlete. This particular athlete is an old friend of mine who I actually used to race against. He is looking to prepare for a few races in the new year and so is keen for a bit of coaching guidance, so I had a chat to him about it yesterday afternoon. Sometimes coaching can be hard and time consuming and sometimes it can be fun and fulfilling and the phone call I had yesterday was definitely the in the later group. The new athlete is going away for a month or so and when he gets back we will get into it, should be a lot of fun. Looking forward to it.

And with that, on wards with business as usual.
