I actually had every intention of getting up this morning and heading out for an easy recovery session, but when I woke up this morning and the rubber hit the road I thought better of it and jumped back into bed. If you can't give yourself a morning off after a solid two hour race, when can you do it. In my experience post race recovery sessions are actually a very good idea, a chance to get out and roll everything over, get some tiredness out of the muscles. I find I always feel better after I have gone to the effort of doing some recovery.
However, this morning it was a toss up between sleeping more and doing a recovery session. An easy session can aid the recovery, but so can sleep, so I decided to err on the side of sleep. Normally I would get myself up and out the door, but today I figured I had earned the sleep in. Same goes for this evening. Usually I would be doing a strength session on a Monday night, but tonight I figured I deserve the break, besides doing weights on a recovery day didn't seem to make sense. Plenty of time for training later. Today was about taking it easy.
Speaking of training, the time for that will be coming up tomorrow. Tomorrow morning it will be back on the bike for a threshold session with the Front Runner mob. These sessions are starting to get serious as we ramp up for Busso, so the bike tomorrow is actually pretty solid. The weather is looking rather lovely, so assuming my legs function as intended it should be a nice morning for a ride.
With any luck I will also be running in the afternoon, but that will depend on how long my day at work goes (potentially long) and how my legs recover from the morning (potentially badly).
Before all that though, time for a bit more recovery sleep.
