Ready to go

All the folks on Kona are locked and loaded and ready for race day, hopefully they are all tucked up in bed now peacefully sleeping. While the folks over in Kona are have been busy setting up and getting ready for race day, here in Perth so am I.

The Ironman tracking app is downloaded, the athletes I want to track have been entered, the only thing I have left to do is to get up in the morning and watch.

Unfortunately for me Kona kicks of at something like 1:00am local time and I will happily admit that I have no intention of getting up at that time. I might be checking in at around 4:00am or so though and once I am up properly I will be keeping a very close eye on the progress of both my mates and the pros.

From a personal point of view there are a couple of people I will be keeping an eye on tomorrow. As I have mentioned previously, I have an athlete racing over in Hawaii this year, Laurent, and he will be my number 1 priority for the day. Besides Laurent though I have a number of friends over there that I be watching keenly, Gary Couanis, Sam Colvin, Johan Borg, all great guys with great stories to get them to Kona. Hopefully they can all manage to stick to their plans, over come the distance and the conditions and make it to the finish line.

Whatever happens for my mates tomorrow, one thing is for sure they will be having an experience of a lifetime and one that I suspect they will remember for the rest of their days.

Time for sleep now, in the morning we watch.
