Forecast is busy

Weekend o'clock. It is a time of the week that has been a long time coming.

As is the norm at the moment I sit here looking down the barrel of a busy weekend. Not too much on the coaching side of things, but that is probably a good thing as there is going to be enough on the plate to keep me busy enough thank you very much.

First up, moving house. Okay so we aren't actually moving this weekend, but we are moving next weekend and so that means this weekend is absolutely flat out getting ready for that move. Packing gear, cleaning up our house, getting our house prepared for sale, soooo much stuff to do. The list isn't' quite endless, but it is long enough I think. This will be a massive part of the weekend.

On the coaching side I will have a bit to do, just not heaps. An appointment or two in the morning tomorrow and a program or two to write. As I mentioned, this weekend is a quiet one for coaching, which really just means I have more free time for house moving. Not sure if I would count that one as a win.

From a triathlon point of view this weekend does have some significance as it is actually the official start of the local season. The first race of our season is the State Duathlon Championship which is on Sunday. By chance I don't actually have any athletes racing at the duathlon, but it wasn't a deliberate decision, just some untimely illnesses, different priorities, people out of town etc getting in the way. Front Runner will have a number of athletes there though, so hopefully they have a good morning out. The race this season is a bit different to previous years with a different race location and a different race organiser. Anecdotally it sounds like these changes have some people a bit uncertain about the race, but hopefully it doesn't stop people entering. I have heard that the entry numbers are a bit low, but hopefully that isn't the case and there is a good showing on race morning. Will shall see.

The final piece of the puzzle for the weekend is another paddle race that I have on Sunday. This is one of my A races of the season, the state marathon championships. It is a race that I have had half an eye on during my training all through Winter. I am pretty happy with how the preparation and the tapering has been going. The event is quite a long one, so I really am not sure how it will go, but I feel I am in a position to give it as good a go as I can. In the end that is all you can do really. Will be a challenging morning out that is for sure.

And that is that. Going to be a busy few days.
