Great training session out on the bike this morning with a good mob from Front Runner sports.
The session this morning was the most people we have had at a Tuesday bike session for weeks, perhaps even months. Still a touch shy of our usual peak numbers, but a great improvement over the handful of athletes that we had been getting through winter
As far as I can tell the main reason for this increase is the significant improvement in weather we have had recently, plus the rapidly approaching Triathlon season. I think the weather is the main factor, but still there is nothing like the thought of an impending race to get the motivation flowing.
With the weather the improvements have been slight, but it would seem like they have been enough. Most of the bike sessions can be done in daylight now, and we are no longer having to rug up against the cold or the rain. These changes are pretty minor, but as much as we like to think bad weather doesn't keep as at home, the increase in participation that we have seen at these sessions would seem to disagree. People clearly prefer to be out on the bike when the conditions are friendly. Not so surprising perhaps.
Now that the weather is improving and our numbers seem to be increasing it would be great to see some of this momentum continue. There is a bit of excitement and buzz building around the coming race season now and so it would good to feed on that excitement and keep it going. I suspect our participation numbers will continue to depend on the weather a little, but hopefully from here we can build into a fun and exciting season of training for everyone.
