Good News

First up, sorry about the lack of a blog post yesterday. I should have said on Wednesday that I was flying back to Perth yesterday but I forgot. Anyway, those travel days can be a bit jam packed and so it can be easier to leave the posts to another day, like today. Sorry about that.

Anyway, here I am.

I got an interesting e-mail yesterday from my cardiologist Dr Stobie. It looked a little bit like this:

An ejection fraction of 50% is not exactly stellar I admit, but I am all up for the bits that talk about improvement. I also like the bits about the detraining having had some success and that there is a lower risk of ventricular arrhythmia. All nifty stuff. My wife particularly liked the exclamation point at the end of the last sentence. Turns out Dr Stobie knows a think or two about athletes and their habits.

This letter is really the first bit of evidence I have that things have improved. Up until this point we were pretty sure things were improving due to a reduction in symptoms etc, but this is a really solid nod in that direction. Great news. As the letter instructs, I have no intention to rush out and start training for an Ironman tomorrow, but the fact that the risk is reduced is a big relief.

Nice bit of good news.
