Just a bit of coaching today. A nice tempo bike session with the Tri Team at Front Runner. A great workout of 6 x 10 minutes at Tempo pace, helping the guys build their aerobic strength.
One of those sessions where everyone ended up feeling like they had had a nice solid workout which is just what it was for.
As always the challenge with this session was to get everyone to really focus in and stick to Tempo pace. This can be challenging in a group environment as a Tempo session actually requires people to ease back a bit in the first few efforts. Certainly by the last effort the intensity feels pretty solid, but in the first couple of 10 minute efforts it can almost feel easy. The whole idea of easing back can be a bit challenging for some people, who prefer to go flat out all the time, but with sessions like this, those people tend to find that they end up riding in the wrong intensity zone by the end. As with all Front Runner session each session has a point and this morning's session was no different.
Back down to Swim Smooth tomorrow for the Friday Threshold session. Should be a bunch of fun.
Now, time to go, can't leave my date waiting.
