Silent Tear

I won't lie, I shed a bit of a silent tear today.

Yesterday I said that I wasn't sure how I would feel watching the Cairns Ironman, a race that I was supposed to be doing, and it turns out it didn't feel that great. In the end ti was a solid case of FOMO and a little bit of mourning for what might have been.

On top of watching the Ironman, today I also started seeing announcements of the newly formed BetterTriUs Pro triathlon team, which is a new triathlon team that has just formed in Perth. It was a group that I was about to join when the doctors told me to stop racing. The team has a great line up of local athletes and will try and bring a bit of European tri team atmosphere to Australia. It has the potential to be a very interesting development and it was something that I would have loved to be involved in.

Not a great day for looking and moving forward in the end.

As I said yesterday,. over the last few months I have been actively focused on moving on with my life and not getting too caught up in 'what could have/should have happened'. Personally I think I have been doing pretty well at achieving that. Today though I let myself have a bit of a wallow in self pity. Not a big one, just a couple of moments, perhaps a few minutes of mourning before pulling myself back together.

Done now, all good to get back on with things.

And get on with things I shall. This week looks like it is going to hold a quite a few coaching experiences for me. First up on Tuesday I am going to be helping out a mate down at our local pool with a little bit of stroke analysis and session programming. Thursday my plan is to head down to Lake Monger to spend a bit of time watching the Front Runner guys do their stuff. Friday morning it will be back down to Swim Smooth as usual and then on Sunday I will be heading out riding with the Break Your Limit Junior squad. Should be able to put a solid dent in the required 24 hours of Development Coach probationary coaching.

In between all that I will be continuing to get back in the habit of exercise this week, trying to get back into my rhythm of daily exercise after a couple of weeks of taking it a bit easy.

Things may not necessarily be where I was hoping they would be when I was planning my year back in January, but I have to say, things perhaps aren't is such a bad place after all. Should be a fun week full of exciting new experiences.
