Winning at Easter

Phew, here we are, at the end of a busy four days off work. A long, long weekend.

I am exhausted.

Today was a day similar to yesterday, a day that had a bit of exercise, a lot of family and a whole bunch of chocolate.

Easter Egg Hunt
The exercise portion of the day was a return to the standup paddle board for a bit of a float. A bit of a slog this morning actually with some winds blowing and the tide running. I remember from my kayaking days that while the Swan River can be a lovely place, it can have an angry side too. This morning the river was hardly angry but it was a bit grumpy.

I also fell off the board for the first time today too. Bound to happen eventually. A bit of fatigue combined with a lapse in concentration and a couple of large boat washes and I was in the drink. No big worries, at least the river isn't that cold at the moment and getting back onto a board is much easier than getting back into a surfski.

The family portion of the day was spent watching Lego Batman (kids loved it) and then hanging out with a mass of cousins at my sister's house before having our annual Easter Egg Hunt (see picture above). The Easter Egg Hunt takes place in my sister's front yard and involves parent's spending 15 minutes hiding eggs and then 10 kids spending 4 minutes finding them all. As usual fun was had by all and each of the kids now have enough chocolate to see them through to the end of school holidays (except for a couple of my nephews who ate most of theirs in one hit and then felt rather unwell).

As I said yesterday, moments like today are the ones that are all the sweeter now that I am not training so much. Even when I was training we still would have had an Easter celebration, but having the extra time at home has meant that I am around more to enjoy it with everyone and that is definitely a good thing.

Down to the pool tomorrow to help with the Tuesday morning SwimSmooth session. Paul is on holiday this week which means I will be earning my keep a bit more helping out down the pool tomorrow and again on Wednesday. Time to see if I have learnt anything.
