I hope everyone has enjoyed the write up of the SunSmart Women's Tri and my wife's race report over the last couple of days. Given my enforced break from racing it has been nice to have a reason to write about Triathlon for a couple of days.
Beyond the Women's Tri, regular readers may be noticing that the blog feels like it is a little in limbo. Like nothing is really happening. To be honest I am aware of it too and it is kind of deliberate. Not that I am deliberately writing boring blog entries, but rather that I have deliberately not progressed the blog in any particular direction. The reason for that is I currently don't know what direction it will be going in. Will I be returning to exercise and if so, how much? Will I be racing in the future, perhaps some coaching? If I do those things, do I continue to write about them? They are all questions that I don't have the answer to at the moment.
However, tomorrow I am hoping that I will start getting some answers. Tomorrow I have my follow up appointment with Dr Stobie following my ablation nearly two weeks ago. In that two weeks my heart should have done a bit of healing and has hopefully started to settle down a little. The appointment tomorrow should start to form a picture of what my heart is now doing. It will help us know how successful the surgery was.
What that really means is that from tomorrow I will start to form an idea of what my future looks like. So not a big moment or anything.
Now, I am realistic, I am not expecting tomorrow to give me any 'bolt from the blue' answers. I am not expecting to come out of the Doctor's tomorrow with a fully developed, off we go sort of plan. However, I am hopeful that tomorrow will give me a bit more information and from that I can start to understand what I can do and what I can't. If I am lucky, perhaps I might even get permission to ride outside again, maybe raise my heart rate about 120bpm. In short I am hoping that tomorrow is the start of the process that will result in me having some answers about what I can do and when I can do it.
To say I am pretty keen to find this information out would be an understatement.
Stay tuned to hear more tomorrow.
