Not so new

After writing that I was going to be trying something new today, this morning I went out and did...

The same thing as I did last week.

Not a total cop out though, really it was just because I realised that trying something new would work out better tomorrow. Besides, the thing I did last week worked pretty well.

So what did I do last week (and therefore this morning)?

Today I headed out for a wee jog before going to Claremont Pool to help Paul with the Monday pure technique session.

The jog bit was pleasant enough. Last week and this week I went jogging around Lake Claremont, which is right next to the pool. In the past I didn't really enjoy running around Lake Claremont since the circuit isn't quite long enough and I would end up having to do several laps to get in a decent run. Now though, as I am running slower I get to take my time and do some exploring. It is one of the silver linings that comes with having to take things easier. Since I have been taking my time in this way I have started to quite enjoy jogging around the lake. There are lots of little paths and deviations to explore. Plus it a very pretty area. Lovely.

Once I was done with my jog this morning it was then straight up to the pool for a quick shower before hitting the pool deck at 7:00.

Today was my second Pure Technique Monday session and I have to say I quite enjoyed it. Hard to put a finger on, but I think I just felt more comfortable with what I was doing down at the pool. I felt like I was able to contribute a little more and was less of a hood ornament. The point of me being down the pool for these sessions is to reduce the load on Paul during the busy sessions and this morning I felt like I was able to do that a little. Plus, the best way to get better at coaching is by actually doing some coaching, so I feel like I learnt a little more today too. My main lesson today was keep the instructions simple, clear and concise. Sounds simple enough, but it is actually something I need to think about as I have a tendency to ramble.

Really, you ramble? The guy who has managed to find something to type on a blog everyday for nearly 4 years. You don't say...

Believe it or not, yes I do. But that is not particularly helpful on a pool deck, when people are tired, oxygen deprived and have their partly blocked by swimming caps. Something to work on. I will add it to my list.

It is a long list.

Trying something new tomorrow. For sure this time.
