A couple of exciting developments today.
First exciting development was that I went for a run today AND IT DIDN"T SUCK.
Hard to believe I know, but I actually enjoyed my run today. My heart seemed to keep itself in check and gave me barely any trouble. As a result I was able to run at a steady but solid pace. The pace wasn't anything ground breaking, but it was the quickest I have run for a while over a sustained duration. And I enjoyed it. Hallelujah. I have been hanging out for an enjoyable run for weeks, next to enjoyable swimming it is the thing I have been craving most.
The run may have been enjoyable, but boy was I a sweaty mess by the end. Part of the sweat was the effort, but the bigger part was because today has been so super humid. The rain we had last week may have cleared, but the humidity lingers on to remind us of the storms. I want to say that running this morning reminded me of running in Darwin, but that would be an absolute lie, it was never that bad. It was sweat central though.
The other exciting thing that happened today was this.
THIS, is the latest box of speedy carbon goodness from Caden wheels. I am going to go into more details over the coming days, but lets just say that these wheels are light and they are fast and they are very special. Let's just say that one of them rhymes with flisc.
An astute observer might notice that these wheels are tubulars. Going back to tubs was a hard decision for me, if I am honest I was never comfortable on tubs when I used them before, which is a big reason why I have raced on clinchers for a few years now. However, when Ben from Caden told me about these wheels I knew I had to have them and so back to tubs it is. Ben is a huge advocate for tubulars, he feels they are superior to clinchers and that they deserve to be used more widely. For most people the biggest barrier to use is the familiarity factor and the comfort that comes with that. That is certainly the issue for me. Ben is on a one man mission to get people comfortable with using tubulars again and I am happy to be converted. Hell, I would do a lot more than change tyre type if it means I get to ride these wheel weapons.
