Freezing the perfect moments

One of those mornings today which is simultaneously both wonderful and horrible for riding. Wonderful because it is clear and crisp and there are lights winds. Horrible because the apparent temperature is less than 0.

Despite the temperature today I never really considered not being out on the bike, the weather just looked like it would be too good to miss. It isn't the case, but it feels like it has been ages since I was out riding around the River and so this morning that is all I wanted to do. No Kickr for me today. I wasn't disappointed either as the gratuitous GoPro footage below will demonstrate. Absolutely lovely morning.

Did somebody say 'Any excuse to use your new toy'? Damn right.

Other than the freezing conditions, the riding felt good too. The program called for a bit of a cruisy spin and that is exactly what I did. A few bits of intensity here or there for the odd hill or to chase down a pack, but on the whole I was just riding around enjoying being outside. I wouldn't use the term aimless wandering, but I think it is fair to say that I wasn't really riding with intent, which is fine because the session didn't call for any. Sometimes being out and riding is enough.

Truth be told I didn't even find it that cold. I was wearing three layers for part of the ride which might have had something to do with it, but what do they say 'There are no bad conditions, just incorrect clothes'.

Glad I made the most of it while I had the chance with it looking like a bit of wet weather will return for the next couple of days. At least it will be warmer. Hopefully the rain all clears up before the weekend though so I can get in a couple of last solid rides before it is time to taper for Challenge Iskdar Puteri.
