Well I made it, home again, home again,
The last 24 hours have been a busy ones full of many steps of travel.
Since I last blogged I have spent time in a helicopter, two different planes, a taxi and several different cars. All those various modes of transport were enough to get me from being offshore to being finally home, a trip which all up took almost 24 hours. A trip I am very happy to be at the end of.
Now that I am home I am feeling far from sharp. Totally self inflicted if I am honest. Last night I just didn't get myself into bed early enough. After finishing up the work offshore it was just nice to be able to relax with my parents and I didn't rush to bed. Unfortunately I still had to be up early to get on a plane. I knew that by being late to bed I was signing myself up for a tired day, but I just couldn't help myself. So here I am, a bit weary.
Great to have another chance to catch up with my parents though.
At least the early plane trip meant I got home to Perth at a decent time, giving me a chance to spend most of a day at home relaxing. It also meant I was able to fit in some training. The program had originally had a swim on for today, but my delayed flights meant that I missed the Friday morning Swim Smooth squad session. I could have headed down to the pool for a solo swim, but I just couldn't gather the motivation for that, so I headed out for a run instead.
Definitely not the most spectacular run. It went okay, getting in a good steady 75 minutes, but it just felt like I was working hard for the speed I was going. An impression that was backed up by my heart rate monitor. I suspect it is by product of me being a bit sleep deprived and tired, so I am not particularly worried. A few days over indulging in the food offshore may not have helped either. A good nights sleep tonight and I will see how I feel in the morning.
Hopefully I am feeling good. Tomorrow is looking like one of those mornings which is going to be perfect for riding. Chilly, clear, sunny, light winds. Absolutely wonderful. I will certainly get to experience the morning fully with a 180km ride on the program. I am going to be out there for a while.
Looking forward to it.
