A good day of training today. A really good day if I am being honest. It feels like things turned a bit of a corner with my long run on Sunday, and today's sessions really built on that.
The day started with a good spin about the river. Nice to be out on the bike during the week after all the trainer sessions of last week. I was chatting to some fellow cyclists and a lot of people are feeling like they are ready to see the backside of winter. Get some daylight and wear a few less clothes. I have to admit I can see their point. Still it was nice to be out on the road and in the elements. Particularly given the number of other cyclists out this morning. The roads were positively buzzing. As chilly and dark as it is, I think I would be willing to wait a bit longer before I have to start complaining about the heat and swallowing flies.
The second session for the day was another run though King's Park. This is the third time I have done this session and each one has been a build upon the last. This week it was also a build on the confidence of Sunday's run. In short the run went well and felt great. The running still isn't quick in the grand sense, but it was pretty okay for me. Plus it was about the best I have run for months and months. The trick for me now is to not get too excited, over do it and do myself an injury. Everything in moderation.
So really, all things came up roses for me today, although that might just be the day off I had yesterday talking.
Now I should just take a minute to give a quick shout out to a photographer who helped me out today. I needed to provide a race photo to some event organisers and I knew there was a really good one from the Busselton 70.3 taken by the Focused Ninja (Focused Ninja). I contacted him through Facebook to see if he would mind me using the image. Not only did he not mind, he went out of his way to get the original photo to me. Now how is that for going the extra mile? Pretty awesome.
