Back to life

I had every intention of doing up a race report for Bintan 70.3 today. Honestly I did. I just sorta didn't quite get there. Turns out that when you are away from real life for a week, real life gets kind of grumpy and takes it out on when you return. Nothing particularly painful, I have had a busy time remembering what I normally do day to day and then catching up on that.

I know I was fluffing about on Monday about whether I would bother with a race report this time around and I have come to the conclusion that I will. I think the race has changed enough since 2013 to make it worth it. Plus Bintan has changed too, and to be perfectly honest, a lot of those changes aren't for the better. However, I think those issues are better discussed within the confines of a report. Since my race wasn't exactly an awesome one, I think the report will focus more on what the race is like now in a general sense. I will make all efforts to get to the race report tomorrow, and I may in fact get there. No promises though.

I got to take my funky heart rate monitor thingo (called a Holter Monitor really, but that doesn't sound as good) back to the Doctor today. Quite interested to see what it comes back with. I gave my body a gentle nudge yesterday by running a few kms and then again this morning on the trainer and so hopefully there is enough elevated heart rate data recorded to give some idea of what is going on. Other than that I have spent most of my time Googling 'chest pain in athletes' and then scaring myself with what comes up. Just kidding. Mostly...

The best bit about having the Holter monitor off is that I can now have a shower. I may possibly not have had a shower since Monday. The need to have one is fairly self evident. Deodorant can only do so much.

No training tomorrow. That is actually because my program has it as a day off, rather than because of the chest pain thing. Despite the medical goings on I still have a program for this week. It is a recovery one and, therefore, fairly light for most of the week. I have modified it were necessary to keep the intensity down, but so far it has been fine. It ramps up on Saturday with quite a long ride so I will have to see how the Doctor goes before I head out on that one.

Now time to see a man about a shower.
