Relaxingly busy

Busy day of doing stuff today, some of which was training.

Started the day off with a good solid swim set down at Claremont with the Swim Smooth squad. The session was a bit of a sprint one, which is unusual for us, that was the point though, the session was intended to be a bit of a change up.

To get us going quickly the session had a series of 150s, followed by 20 x 50m. The 50s started off with a very short rest period which got increasingly longer. Whilst the rest got longer, the intention was that pace also increased, which is more or less how it went. Unfortunately I fairly cooked myself on the 150s, so by the time I got to the 50s I was in a bit of a survival mode.

The rest of the day was busy, but hardly stressful, most of it was family related. Stuff like going for a long walk to get a coffee, going to my daughter's school to help with lunch time activities, afternoon swimming lessons etc. All stuff that I feel very lucky to be able to be involved in. Sometimes I think the training is perhaps the smallest of the benefits I get from working part time. Although that bit is good too.

Riding in the morning. Looking at the forecast it looks like it could be a special kind of perfect. Light winds, a small chance of rain. If it is anything like this morning though it could be pretty darn chilly though (this morning got down to around 1 degree while we were swimming). Might be another morning of putting on everything. Slightly longer ride this week as I continue to build volume and get back into the rhythm of training. Might head down the freeway for this one I think.
