A tale of two tough ones

After my day off yesterday it was straight back into it with another solid day of training today.

I started the morning off with a particularly painful session on the Kickr. I did this session Tuesday, and it hurt then too. Lots of race pace and race pace+ intervals, made for a tough morning. Still it is good to start seeing the right sort of numbers coming out of these sessions. Gives some confidence that form is returning.

My second session for the day was another run through King's Park. The run was very similar to the one I did last week, although a slightly different route with a few more hills involved (hooray?). The run last week was a good base and this week I built on it with a bit more speed and distance covered. A nice solid run that once again gives some confidence that form is returning. Running is feeling better than it has for a long time. Still a long way to go, but it has been a start.

Looks like we are in for some weather over the next couple of days. Thankfully all my outdoor sessions are done with for now and I don't really have anything out in the elements until Saturday morning (swimming in the morning doesn't really count). The forecast is for the weather to start pretty soon and be done by sometime tomorrow morning, so hopefully it is all good by the time my long ride comes along on Saturday. The P5 has only just been put right by the guys at Churchill, so I would be reluctant to put it out in the rain and risk more harm. For those that may not have read the earlier post, I was setting the P5 up last Friday and found the bottom bracket to be very stiff. I now know that one of the bearings in the bottom bracket had seized, probably due to water ingress, which is what I had suspected had been the problem. I would prefer to avoid that sort of trouble in the future.

Hopefully the rain dries up by Saturday and it isn't an issue.

But for now training is done and I can sit back and enjoy watching the weather roll in (if it does).
