Back to the norm after the excitement of Busselton 70.3.
On Sunday I mentioned that I might head out for a ride on Monday. Well that sure didn't happen. The bike was good to go and I woke up with the intention of heading out, but I decided against it when I heard the belting rain. I was keen, but not that keen. I rarely have the opportunity to take the easy option and stay in bed, but I am on a recovery week at the moment so I thought that was the perfect excuse for a bit of targeted slackness. It was lovely.
This morning though I no such excuses, so it was down to the pool for some rolling over of the arms. I have mentioned before that I don't get to the Tuesday Swim Smooth sessions that often, but I regularly wish I could since they are usually a good solid technique session. As luck would have it this morning's session was less technique and more tough. Well tougher than your usual Tuesday morning anyway, which when done on slightly tired arms is plenty tough enough. Still it was good to get down there and get moving again. During a recovery week I usually just aim for one session a day, so it was nice to get down to the pool and get it done. It meant I have been able to relax for the rest of the day.
Freezing cold though this morning. Not sure what it is about swimming mornings but they always seem to be cold, or perhaps they just seem that way because you know you are going to be getting wet. Whatever the reason, this morning it was brisk, around 5 degrees. I rarely think to hard about how warm it would be back in bed, but this morning I gave it a good long hard think.
Still, Claremont pool is actually quite warm and so once you are in it is usually very pleasant. Getting out again is less fun, but the swimming bit is normally fine.
The plan for tomorrow morning is to head out for a bit of a jog/walk. How much jogging I do and how much I walk I will decide once I am going. Really I am just looking to get out and get moving, the intensity is fairly irrelevant. Hopefully it isn't freezing cold though.
