Making Claims

Mmmmm, the joys of sleep. Feeling a lot more human today after a great night's sleep last night. Still a little tired if I am being honest, but I think if anything that just demonstrates to be how much training last week and over the weekend took out of me.

Another solid week of training ahead. I wouldn't necessarily say easier than last week. A little bit less volume for sure, but just different really. Starting with a two hour session on the trainer in the morning, which is always a lovely way to start the training week.

A good night's sleep tonight and I think I will be ready to get back into it by the morning.

Moving away from training and I have just started my Garmin Warranty journey for my Garmin Vector Pedal Pods. For those who haven't been reading this blog over the last couple of weeks, the saga with my Vectors began in Putrajaya a couple of weeks ago when where my Garmin Vector power meter suddenly decided to cease functioning. This happened two days before the race which caused a certain amount of stress for my race day. That stress aside, the issue with the pods is that a couple of little metal retractable pins on the pods seem to have retracted and not popped out again. These pins form the data connection with the pedals themselves. No data connection, no power meter. In fact this here are a couple of photos that I prepared earlier.

The reason I have these photos is that this is part of what I have to send to Garmin. That and my proof of purchase. I have done that now, so hopefully something moves along with this sooner rather than later. I have never dealt directly with Garmin Customer support, but from what I have read online they seem to be okay, so hopefully my experience isn't painful. I have replaced these pods already since I need them for training and racing, but if I can claim these on Warranty it would mean having some spares, which would be handy since I have been through about four in the last 16 months or so. Not something I am happy about and one of the reasons why I feel there is an issue with the design.

Interestingly I have always assumed that I simply have very bad luck with these pods, but I was speaking to somebody on the weekend and they were saying that they go through the pods at a similar rate. The fact that Garmin has just announced the Vector 2s and the biggest change to them is the design of the pods, makes me suspect that my opinion about the design isn't so far off the mark.

Anyway, time will tell. Hopefully the outcome is a happy one.
