Pooped

Soooo tired right now. Although not from training like you might guess.

My sister is moving house today, so to give them some space we have been looking after their three kids at our house. Added to our two, it has made for a full on day. I thought Ironman was a long day. I think I am up for just finishing this off, having a stretch and then collapsing into bed.

Besides the child minding their was some training today as well. 100km on the bike. It went okayish. The session included a couple of rounds of hill intervals plus some long intervals. I struggled on the long intervals a little if I am honest. Not entirely sure why. Legs were a little flat again.

Super windy on the ride. The wind was a massive easterly, but it was one of those winds that just seemed to be coming from everywhere at once, just no getting away from it. As frustrating as it was it may be good prep for Mandurah, which at the moment is forecast to be a windy day. Still it is a long way out to be getting to concerned about the forecast quite yet.

As well as the wind, it was also super busy out on the roads today. It seemed like every person who owns a bike must have been riding it this morning. I actually got stuck in bike traffic jams a couple of times, caught up with groups that were just to big to get around. At one point I pulled over for a couple of minutes to let a particular group get down the road a little bit so I didn't have to deal with being stuck behind them. I am not sure what caused the mad rush on cycling today, if there was a memo I must have missed it, but it certainly was crazy.

The ride this morning was the only training today. I did consider going down to the Saturday Swim Smooth session. It wasn't on the program, but it is a good session so I was tempted. However, by the time we got to lunch time our day was already fairly flat out with the horde of children. Occasionally it is nice to know that the easy option has been coach endorsed and so you can feel free to take it, which I did. Still I sort of feel like getting another wetsuit swim done sometime this weekend, so if the weather is good tomorrow afternoon I might head down to the river for an easy splash around.

Whilst I didn't train anymore today I did spend a bit of time setting this up.

I never get sick of this. Everytime I set the bike up to race it feels special. This isn't actually set up for Mandurah, but instead it is set up for my brick session in the morning. I like to use sessions like this one as a bit of a dress rehearsal. One last check on all the fancy bits. Hopefully everything works the way it is supposed to. But if it doesn't then I still have time to get it fixed. Of course that isn't Plan A.
