Uggghhhh Brains...

Sooooo tired.

I don't mind being tired when it is self inflicted. You know when you watch one to many episodes of Game of Thrones and then you pay for it in the morning. I feel miserable when I do that, but I can live with it. What is worse is when you do everything you can to get a good night's sleep, but for reasons beyond your control your night just ends up heavily interrupted. That is never fun.

Last night I scurried around like mad to try and make sure I was in bed at a reasonable time. My evening looked something like:
  • Eat dinner
  • Put daughter to bed
  • Change tyre
  • Change tube that has now developed a leak around the valve
  • Get bike ready for training today
  • Strength work
  • Stretch
  • Clean Teeth
  • Zzzzzz
At the end though, I was in bed by 9:20. Score, mission accomplished.

Unfortunately my night was then fairly broken, the worst of it between 12:00am and 2:00am, right when your body is usually doing the bulk of its heavy lifting sleep wise. As a result today I have been in a bit of a zombie state all day. Functional but not really mentally present.

Caffeine.

Training wise I had another walk/run this morning. I was feeling a bit more flat and tired this time around, but I suspect a lot of that is due to the broken night that I had. Still it went okay. Certain bits of me are a little sore running at intensity, but I think on the whole the body is ready for the next step running wise. I am not quite sure what will happen when I take that next step, but there is only really one way to find out.

Training tonight is a ride. Should be a tough little session, but hopefully not too shattering. The first part of the session is going to be some hill repeats which I will go and do in King's Park, since that will fit with the rest of the ride well. I haven't done hill repeats in King's Park for quite some time, but in the past I have always enjoyed it, so I am looking forward to that bit. The second part of the session is a long sustained effort, which may be a little bit less fun. We shall see. The good thing is that at the moment the weather is glorious, although a little windier than I would like. Still the sun is shining and the day is warm. I am very much looking forward to being out in it.
