See what I did with the title there? Well no I guess you probably don't yet. Take my word for it though it is very witty and clever. Perhaps.
I had swimming this morning and I do declare that it was good. On top of the session going well I also managed to get my fins back, which I lost at the pool this time last week. Hence the blog title, fins are kind of like shoes, which have soles, and I have them back now. See? Funny, right...
Anyway moving on.
Beyond the obvious highlight of getting my fins back, I feel like I got through the session well. The session was a solid one containing a main set of 9 x 200m done at around threshold pace. Basically a case of, swim hard now then stop in 1800m. It is a horrible session to look at on paper, bluurrghhh, nine of them, and not a lot more fun in the water. But despite that I was really happy with how it went. I more or less managed to hold pace through the set and felt pretty good doing it. Chuffed.
The ride last night went well too. It was just a bit of a spin but I had a lot of fun doing it. I actually chased a Strava Segment for part of it, which is not something I usually go in for, but the conditions were perfect for a fast time so I thought I would have a crack. Unfortunately when the Strava Segment has names like Luke Durbridge on the leader board, the chances of getting near the top are pretty slim. Still it was fun to ride flat out for a few kms. It made me realise that I don't actually do that very often. High intensity yes, but absolutely flat out, there isn't really much call for it during training. Very fun though. I really do like riding a bike fast, nothing quite like the feeling. For the record I think it was a personal best, even if it did only get me about 700th over all.
Nothing on the training books for this afternoon, just a nice quiet roll down into the weekend, before a solid couple of days of training. The weather forecast for the weekend is looking a little dubious, so I will be interested to see what we actually get. My vote would be for not storms during my ride tomorrow, but I am not entirely sure if my vote is being counted.
