Yesterday I mentioned that I was on the cusp of finishing a piece of work that I has been occupying my mind for about 18 months. Well today it is done. Finally. It feels a bit like I have finished an Ironman, very happy to be across the line, but the reality of the achievement hasn't really sunk in yet. I am certainly looking forward to waking up in the morning and not having to think about it again though. That is also a bit like an Ironman
Back to the real world though. Training today has no far consisted of a run/walk session this morning and this afternoon I have a ride on the books.
The run this morning was my next step in the process of returning to proper running. Today's session was a bit more running and a bit less walking. As with most of my runs over the last two weeks, it wasn't pain free, but the running did feel good. Plus most of the pain I was getting was not related to the groin injury I have been getting over. Rather it was a bit of soreness in my left hip flexor and some in my back. Typically not areas that you aspire to having hurt, but also not areas that concern me overly, since I am quite certain they are my body just adjusting to running again. I am quietly confident that if I maintain my stretching routine, the pains will subside. Injury wise though I think it is on course. I still get pain at times, but not particularly during running and that is a good thing.
Swimming in the morning. Being a Friday I am sure the session will be fast and furious with just a little bit of pain thrown in. So that should be lovely. But that is all for tomorrow morning. For now I think I have earned myself a ride so I am going to go and look into that.
