Lovely Day

Absolutely beautiful day here in Perth today. Blue skies, warm weather, light winds, it has just been perfect.
Beautiful Day
Sorry I don't usually do the parent thing online, but it really has been a magic day weather wise. Perfect for being outside and doing stuff, whether that is training or running around the park. Winter is almost behind us. Almost.... But more on that later.

The day has been a good one training wise too. This morning I had the immense satisfaction you get from doing a session and knowing you have done it well. No corners cut, honest effort given and a good result at the end. It leaves you with a definite glow.

The session was a ride/run session and both legs went well. I actually mean that, the run genuinely went well. Still not at top pace, but a big step in the right direction and feeling good in the process. It has been a long time since I have been able to enjoy running, but I am getting close. It has also been a long time since I have been able to say that all three legs are training well. Once again I am not quite there yet (after all I am still not running all that much yet) but I am on the way I think. The ride was awesome, that more or less sums that up.

This afternoon the plan had been to head down to Claremont and do the Saturday afternoon Swim Smooth session. But I stuffed my planning up a bit and in the end it just wasn't going to work. So instead I headed down Bicton Baths and jumped in the river in the wetsuit and did an open water swim there instead. If nothing else shows that the seasons are turning, then the fact that I am willing to jump in the river again is a good indication. As usually it was very pleasant. I tend to forget just how good a training venue it is. Plus it is always great to spend some time in true open water in the wetsuit. That is never time wasted. It was a pleasant enough session, although it contained a good little chunk of solid work too.

Good day of training all around.

Now back to this perfect weather, it would seem that it is possibly a little too good to last. If the forecast is to be believed, tomorrow is supposed to be as horrible as today has been good. So much so that I am considering jumping on the trainer for my long ride. Not my preferred option, but then again this is the forecast for tomorrow.

Cloudy. Showers developing early in the morning, becoming less widespread in the late afternoon. Winds west to northwesterly 35 to 50 km/h turning southwesterly in the late afternoon.

Sometimes you see a forecast and you just think, 'you know what I don't need that weather in my life'.
I will wait until the morning until making any final decisions, since you never quite know what will actually turn up in the morning. That forecast could end up being anything from weather Armageddon to a sun shower. But if the forecast is correct then I really can't be bothered dealing with that. Several hours on the trainer is not exactly my idea of a perfect Sunday morning, but 35 to 50km/h winds, combined with rain. No thanks.

We shall see.
