Another day, a bit more training. I try not to feel this way too often. I am a big believer in engaging your brain for each of your sessions in order to get the most out of it. Rolling through a session will always bring some physical improvements, but for getting the most of out your time I really think training needs to be more than just a physical process.
Having said that, I am just a little fried at the moment. I think the frying is mostly mental, but that always makes you feel stuffed physically as well. I think my crispy nature is not really due to training or lack of sleep but more because I have had about 5 hours worth of meetings today and that is really enough to sap the soul of any person.
Well maybe it is a little due to training as well. I had a ride this morning and it turned out to be a tough one. I am not sure why I am surprised by that. This particular ride is a bit of a regular at the moment and it is often a tough one. Hill repeats followed by a long interval. Unfortunately I had a head wind for much of the session, so even the bits that weren't hill or interval were on the tough side. Plus there were a couple of packs that I just couldn't let go, so it is probably a little self inflicted.
Tonight it is time for a run/walk. A bit of a shorter version of the session today, but with a higher proportion of running. If I am honest I am not really in the mood, mentally disengaged, but I am sure I will be fine once I get going. If nothing else it is a nice walk/run along the coast and the river, well it would be if it wasn't for the hills and the headwind. The focus today will be trying to replicate some of the feeling I had yesterday during my 14km run.
Physio today. I slotted it in right after my 5 hours of meetings. Probably the last appointment before Mandurah. All systems go by the sound of it. Still some stiffness and tightness in some areas (I blame the ride this morning), but nothing catastrophic. Just keep on with the stretching really.
Time to find some mental focus. Perhaps it is behind the cheese.
