A good solid day of training today. A bit of a walky run this morning and a good ride on actual roads this afternoon.
The walky run was a minor improvement over the similar session I had on Tuesday. I still got some soreness towards the end, but for much of it the running felt good. I am considering it another step in the right direction. I have pulled up from the session fairly well today, and with a good stretch on the agenda for tonight, I am hoping I will continue to feel good tomorrow.
As for the ride this afternoon, it really was great to get out on the roads again. This is my first ride outside in nearly three weeks and I really have missed it. On top of it just being plain nice to be on the bike, it was also warm this afternoon. I think I may have sweated. We aren't out of winter yet, the weather coming up on the weekend is intent on reminding us of that, but the seasons are certainly on the move.
Training wise, this has been a good first week back. Most of the sessions have gone better than expected. In general I think I managed to maintain my fitness while I was away more than I was expecting. Still a long way to go, but I don't think I am not starting from as low a point as I at first feared. Well that is how is seems from here, hopefully I am not counting chickens too early.
Swimming in the morning, and I have to say, I am looking forward to this session. I always enjoy Friday mornings, and after the session I had on Wednesday, I am not quite as scared of swimming as I was at the beginning of the week. Hopefully Wednesday morning wasn't just a fluke, but even it it was, the consequences of the session going all wrong are a bit less severe on a Friday. That isn't the plan of course.
A bit over halfway through week 1, so far so good.
