The day started off pretty well with a nice ride this morning. The ride was a good solid effort that went well and felt good. I came out of that bit feeling chuffed.
The morning continued going well, with a bit of work around the house. I got to lunch feeling productive and a bit pleased with myself. That is when I stepped on a nail.
Now I don't want to give the wrong idea here. I only just sort of stepped on a nail. It resulted in the smallest flesh wound in the history of mankind. But unfortunately this nail is truly ancient. Possibly the nail that all other nails have since evolved from.

It was such a very small wound that I was tempted to not bother, but then the one time you don't get a tetanus booster is almost certainly the time you end up with tetanus. There was a period in my life that I was getting hurt often enough that my tetanus booster was always up to date. It seemed like I couldn't turn around without a doctor jabbing me in the arm with one. But that was over 10 years ago now, so I really was past the point of having any excuse.
It is kind of fun watching people crack in the waiting room of a walk in GP though. There is always at least one. Anyone who has spent anytime in the waiting room of a walk in GP knows you are in for a wait. It isn't a question of if, but how long. I always take a book. But some people aren't as prepared. There is always one who gets through the first hour or so, sometimes even 90 minutes and then finally gives up. Usually walks out muttering not quite under the breath obscenities about ridiculous waiting times. I can't help but think, 'Oh you nearly made it, if you could have held on for another 20 minutes you would have been there'. Now you have simply wasted an hour of your day. Unfortunately today the person who cracked was behind me in the queue, rather that in front. Cut throat sort of place.
So that really threw my day out the window. By the time I was done with all that it was late afternoon and I still and a second ride to get done for the day.
I did manage to get out for that ride in the end, it was only a short spin, so it wasn't to difficult to get myself out the door. That ride went alright as well, although I couldn't help but spend most of the time thinking of all the other things I should be doing, which is never constructive. Highlights of the ride where nearly getting smeared over the side of a guy's Bentley (what all the cool kids are crashing into these days) and having obscenities yelled at me from a guy passing by in a car. Looking at that for a minute, I think your average driver over estimated just how intelligible they are when they yell from a car. I have no idea what this guy was saying, something about questioning my sexual preferences I think, which if he can tell from seeing me ride, is quite a talent, although from what I could make out he had it wrong (not that I wasn't flattered). Oh well, at least I am sure he was pleased with himself, which in the end is sort of the point isn't it.
Hmmm, no not really. What a tool.
Anyway, I am off doing a bit of travel for work tomorrow and am probably going to only have intermittent access to very slow internet. So this could be the last post for a few days. I should be back up and running by Wednesday, but things could be a bit quiet until then.
Try not to miss me too much.
In hindsight that really wasn't that short a post. Oh well, time for bed.
