A bit of a nice quiet day training wise today. I had a run this morning, but that is all there was on the program. I have a very long ride tomorrow to make up for it, but that is a story for tomorrow.
I thought I would make the most of the light training day to catch up on some chores around the house, doing a bit of DIY etc. I haven't done that sort of stuff since before moving to Darwin back in 2010. Up in Darwin we always lived in rental properties, so we didn't do much maintenance type stuff. Before that we used to do a fair bit of work on our own houses, so it isn't a new concept to us, but it has been a while.
Anyway, on the agenda today was re-roofing a bit of the pergola type thing we have out the back of our house. Doing it was enough to remind me why I don't do that sort of thing very often. I am absolutely shattered now. I still have to put the Cervelo P5 together in preparation for my ride tomorrow, but once that is done I will be crawling straight into bed.
Going back to the run, it was a pretty cruisy one, similar to the one I had on Wednesday morning. And like the run I had on Wednesday morning, this one felt really good. I am certainly over the worst of this chest cold. The running was quick (for me), but rather than feeling laboured, it just felt good to be running fast. Yes the running obviously got tougher and a bit slower as the run progressed. But it still felt good to be going quick. It was a great feeling.
The two good runs I have had this week reminded me of how much I am enjoying my new Mizunos. I really was a bit hesitant about swapping over from my Asics, but now I sure am glad I did. Whilst they are certainly a less supportive shoe than the old Asics, it appears that my legs have strengthened up enough to be able to cope. It is nice to be wearing a nice pair of shoes and feel like you are running well enough to be making the most of them.
Now, time to put a bike together.
