Who says "schnazy" anyway?

Well it finally happened, today Perth had a max of 30 degrees. I knew that if I waited long enough we would have a coolish day eventually. Still felt pretty warm out on the bike this morning, but I guess it could have been worse.

I won't lie, that ride today was a struggle. I have already mentioned it a couple of times this week, but this has been a tough week of training. One of the heaviest I have ever done in fact. But I can proudly say that I have now made it through. There were a lot of moments when I really wanted to cut a corner or take the easy option, but I managed to stick with it, so I am pretty happy about that. I tell a slight lie though, because I am meant to be swimming tonight, and instead I am going down to the beach tomorrow morning to go swimming with some folk from Break Your Limits. But I am going to claim it anyway.

Speaking of Break Your Limits, check it out

Pretty Schnazy
Very cool new visor. Gave it a crack on the run yesterday and it both keeps the sun off and looks mighty fine doing it. That is about all you can ask for when it comes to a hat.

So back to the ride. I was just plain worn out this morning. I got myself out on the bike, but was struggling on hills from the word go. I had 150km to do and I was counting down the kms almost from the word go,which is never a good start. I had a series of long intervals to do which helped pass the time though and that got me through the bulk of the ride. Around the 100km mark I was finished with the intervals and I was tempted to just turn for home, but I managed to roll myself through the next 50 and make it through. In the end it was actually a pretty solid ride, with a good average speed and some decent pieces. Surprisingly in the last 15km or so I started to come good again and was feeling pretty alright. One of my best rides over that distance and certainly the best I have done when totally fatigued.

Between the ride this morning and the ride/run yesterday it has been a good weekend of training. I have had some nice confidence boosting sessions. I would say I haven't been travelling this well since the Mandurah 70.3.

A bit of an easier week next week, well less volume anyway, I am not sure I would call it easier. Hopefully I can get another few solid sessions in to keep building on the work I have done this week.
