It was back into it this morning with a return to the bike this morning for a nice cruisy spin. I was quite surprised just how good it felt, especially considering I was working into a particularly nasty headwind for large parts of the ride.
Other than the wind it was quite a lovely morning to be out and about. Perth is on its way to a 39 degree day today and so this morning was definitely the time to be doing exercise. This afternoon will be presumably be the time for frying eggs on the bonnets of cars and spontaneously combusting seagulls.
I am still feeling a little stiff and sorry from Saturday, but not that bad, certainly good enough to be out on the bike. I have the Geelong 70.3 in about 4 weeks time and so training for that starts now. This week is a bit of an easyish week, but it is not an easy week. It is good to be back into it.
I am looking forward to getting some solid training in over the next couple of weeks. Training over the Christmas period is always a bit tricky and can be a little inconsistent. As a result it never felt that the lead into Albany was that solid. The amount of time between Albany and Geelong is similar to the time between Busselton and Albany, but the plan is to fit a bit more work in this time around and I am really looking forward to it.
Over the years I have learnt that I operate a lot on confidence and a big chunk of that confidence comes from training. When I know I am training well and I feel I am doing the work, then I tend to race well. I was lacking a bit of that confidence before Albany. I am looking forward to doing the training and regaining some confidence before Geelong.
