Well I got through my run last night and it went alright. That is the good.
During the run I felt a slight twinge of my left hamstring. That is the bad.
I suspect the hamstring twinge was a result of pushing to hard to early in the run after not having run for a week and a half. Not stopping when I should have was also probably a factor. The good old triathlete mentality of working through the pain in action again unfortunately.
I would by lying if I said I wasn't concerned about it, but I am not letting myself get into full blown worry yet. This seems to be a pretty minor twinge. Last time I had something like this it cleared up reasonably quickly. So I am hoping this does the same. As a precaution I didn't ride this morning. Cycling obviously doesn't stress the hamstring like running does, but I figured that no stress is better than a little stress at this point, so I opted for giving it a rest. The plan is to swim in the morning and then I will reassess. I am hoping to be riding by the weekend. Running may have to wait a little longer, but we shall see. At the moment I am not thinking to hard on whether this has an impact on Albany. I suspect it is too early to tell.
I also feel like I might be coming down with a bit of a sniffle as well. I am not 100% sure of this one yet, I am feeling a little bit off, but it may turn out to be nothing. Both of my kids have been sick for most of this week, so I suspect if I am getting sick then it has come from then. I am pretty good at avoiding sick people in the office and I have tried to be careful with hygiene in the house, but when it is the kids, avoiding the spread is almost impossible.
Still if I am having to miss training because of a cold and having to miss training because of an injury, it makes sense to do them both at the same time.
Efficiency.
Tomorrow is another day though. Things may look better in the morning.
