Nothing left to do

Well that's it, the last training session has been done, race time now.

Tomorrow is a day for sleeping in, registering, briefing, racking bikes and resting. Then all that there is left to do is race. There is nothing else I can do to be ready other than sleep.

I like that situation.
I had a pretty brief swim this morning, just a bit of turning the arms over. I considered going down to the Swim Smooth session for half a session, but Daryl's instructions had been no lactic loading. No lactic loading is a foreign concept at the Friday morning Swim Smooth session, so I decided to give the formal session a miss and just do my own thing. I also asked Paul Newsome about it and he had suggested something similar, so I felt like it was the right choice.

This afternoon there was a bit of a spin on the bike on the agenda, but my back gave a bit of a twinge on the bike on Wednesday. It if feeling pretty close to right now, but I would prefer to rest and have it 100% on Sunday than get in one more short bike ride and risk having it at 75% on Sunday. I know my back and it doesn't take much sometimes. Caution is usually the right approach with it.

The forecast continues to be for mega winds on Sunday. At the moment they are looking a bit like cross winds, which is making me second guess my wheel choice. I usually run with a 70mm deep HED 7 on the front, which is deep enough to get a bit squirrelly. At this late stage though I have pretty much decided to go with a She'll be Right philosophy. I am pretty sure I will be okay. There are a few to many unknowns, ie how bad the wind will actually be, how badly effected the course will be etc, to confidently base a decision on it. I think I will be okay, but time will tell whether that is a correct decision.

I am not second guessing my choice to use my wheel cover on the back wheel though. One thing my ride last weekend demonstrated to me was that the disc is stable, even in big winds. So I am not really worried about that. With the course being so flat, I think it is still very disc friendly, even with big cross winds.

Time for a sleep in.
