Looong run this morning. Not long enough to be a Looooong run, but certainly enough to qualify as Looong. Very similar to the run I did Tuesday morning, but a bit longer. Legs are stuffed now I have to say. I got home feeling like they were one big puddle of leg goo, which can be unpleasantly messy.
The run went okay, although I started running out of legs towards the end. I had a mamoth head wind on the way out, which actually resulted in a bit of negative splitting on the way back. It is good to get some of these longer runs in and start building some confidence for Busselton.
Speaking of running some folk from Break Your Limits just completed this
Antarctic Ice Marathon
Nutters. Like running a marathon isn't hard enough that you need to do it in freezing conditions over snow. By all accounts they were doing some of their training in commercial freezers to get used to the temperatures and the gear. That is a full on crazy event, but also just a bit awesome.
I was on the bike last night which went pretty okay considering how I was feeling after the swim yesterday morning. It was windy, but that just seems to be standard at the moment. The wind didn't get in the way to much, I am starting get a better feel for where to train when the various winds are up, so I was able to go minimise its impact a bit.
I am back on the bike again tonight for a bit of a spin. Well I think it is a bit of a spin, I should probably check the program...yep just a bit of a spin, so that should be okay, not to demanding. See how the legs pull up after this morning's abuse.
This is the training bikes last ride before heading into Churchill Cycles for a much needed service tomorrow. I am hoping I don't get a phone call at some point tomorrow along the lines of 'my Lord what have you done to this bike, you don't deserve the privilege of owning a bike, if there was a bike equivalent to the RSPCA I would be reporting you' or something similar. The training bike is still going okay, I do try and take good care of it, but it does cop a lot of abuse. It is showing signs that this service is possibly a month or so overdue, things are slipping and making more noise that I suspect they should. Hopefully after tomorrow the bike will be back to its speedy self.
It completely unrelated news, there is something I have been meaning to complain about for a while. Almost two weeks ago we had the Mandurah 70.3 in this state. Some of the best triathletes in that distance competed, nearly 2000 athletes in all. Not one peep from our local paper the West Australian. Not even a single article. There wasn't a ball involved so I am guessing it doesn't qualify as being a sport worthy of notice in Australia. That really annoyed me. In fact it annoys me enough that I think I might just write a letter of complaint. Does that mean I am getting old?
