I thought I would try doing an update using my phone. Given the chosen device, this could be brief.

Well I have made it to Cairns. I think I can say that my rather convoluted plans for getting here worked as planned. Kind of. The red eye flight was pretty much as expected. I did manage to get some sleep which was great. Picked up my car without any hassles, then managed to find a nice carpark and get another couple of hours sleep. After that, got some breakfast, put the bike together, went for a ride, then went and checked into my accommodation. All according to plan. The unplanned bit was when I got to my accommodation and had this conversation:

Owner:  I was expecting you at 8:00am
Me: When I spoke to you last week you said you wouldn't have my room ready until 11:00
Owner: Oh I rearranged things so that you could go straight in
Me: O

Oh well my way worked out okay anyway.

Cairns is nice. I have never been here before. It reminds me a lot of Darwin. And middleearth. Less hobbits than middleearth. Less snow to. But lots of misty mountains. It has been raining/drizzling all day, and apparently that is likely to continue. At least it has been keeping it cool. It has been quite windy as well. Should make for an interesting ride leg. Tail wind on the way out, but it could be a bit of a battle on the way back.

I think I am feeling a little better today. I had an easy ride and run today that both felt okay. I am still coughing up goo, but there seems to be less of it and it doesn't seem to be slowing me down to much. Time will tell I guess.

Will try out the swim course in the morning. Will also be racking the bikes tomorrow and a few other final preparations. Other than that tonight and tomorrow is all about resting.
