Sandy socks

Run day again today, with a fair bit of mileage on the cards. It is one of the days that always looks daunting on paper, but if you take it one step at a time, isn't to bad. Well that is what I keep telling myself anyway. Was down at the beach early again this morning for the usual Wednesday morning, beachy, interval filled long run. Because I was sick this time last week, it has been a couple of weeks since I last did this run. So it was good to get back to routine. It is a good run, but I always end up with sand in my shoes. I am not a fan of sand in my shoes. It takes a surprisingly long time to get it out again.

It was chilly this morning. I think the coldest morning since we moved down. A bit below 7 degrees. I don't mind running when it is cold. Much nicer than riding when it is cold and a lot better than running when it is hot and humid. Might be time to rethink running in a visor though I think, top of my head was cold.

I still have the afternoon interval run to go today, which I am preparing myself mentally for. It can be a tough session, particularly on fatigued legs. But then again that is sort of the point. Speed and form when tired. Triathletes don't get to run on fresh legs, so they better be good at running on tired legs.

It was a good ride last night. No rain. It was the first hills repeat session I have had on the bike where I truly felt like I had nailed the hills. I now have that session as a benchmark for what sort of speed I should be aiming for on those hills. Something I can work against and improve on.

I got yelled at again on the bike last night. It was hard to catch, but I think he had an issue with the brightness of my lights, or more specically the angle of them. I feel his pain actually, I also find it annoying when people are riding towards you on the cycle way and they have their super bright bike lights angled into your eyes. It is like riding towards a car with their high beams on. Totally blinds you for a bit. Particularly these days, the latest generation of LED front lights can really pump out some lumens. It just never occured to me that I was guilty of it as well. Will have to be careful about where my lights are pointing in future.
