Day off

A bit of a quiet day today, mostly owing to the fact that it was a public holiday in Perth today, so I didn't actually have to do anything.

My plan for today was to start off with a sleep in and go from there. Unfortunately the plan went off the rails fairly early when my son woke up at 4:10am and refused to go back to sleep. I rarely get up that early on mornings when I am training. Mornings when I am supposed to be sleeping in, forget about it. Oh well.

Other than that it has been a nice day, pottering around doing weekend type stuff. We had a trip to Bunnings of course, because what else do you do on a Public Holiday? It seemed that most of Perth had the same idea since it was quite packed. To the point that we actually gave up on getting a park at our closest one and drove to a different Bunnings. Kind of depressing really.

Quite day doesn't mean no training though, with another run/walk session on my program. The session was a good lesson in why you read your program carefully. I glanced at it yesterday and saw 70 minutes, so assumed it was a 70 minute spin on the bike, which I often have on a Monday. Lucky I went back and checked, since it certainly wasn't a session involving a wheels.

Once I got the right session, it was a good one. Running is continuing to feel better. I have actually run two days in a row now, and whilst neither session was particularly run heavy, I am happy with how the body is pulling up. I have to say that running is feeling okay. Still not pain free, but not that bad and certainly not limiting. Much better than before Challenge Gold Coast. The difference between then and now was that then I had the fitness to go for a long run, but my body protested if I tried to run fast. It was something I just didn't seem to be able to do. Now I am running fast (for me) much more easily. I can't do it for very long, but the speed is there. There is something very nice about being able to run in top gear again. Turns out I have missed it a bit.

Just have to work on being able to do it for more than 200m...
