Finally back training today. There is just something reassuring about having a program to follow. It is probably just the insecure athlete in me, but I am always happier with a training program. Knowing what I need to do and when. Sigh of relief. Ahhhh......
Training today was a session on the bike. When I say bike I mean trainer, since it was still raining fairly insistenly this morning. Being on the trainer today made me realise that whilst an indoor trainer and an exercise bike are both inside, that is where the similarity ends. Being on a real bike on a real trainer was just so much nicer than the exercise bikes I was forced to use last week.
The bike session went fairly well. It was just a shortish spin, but as I said yesterday, it was my first test to see how I am traveling after my two week break for work. So far the answer seems to be, not as bad as I feared. The ride didn't seem to have lost much in comparision to my rides before the trip. Still a long way to go, and the real test will be a proper long ride, but so far so good. The short spin box is ticked. Just a couple more boxes to tick of now, like long rides, and running, and swimming...
Speaking of running.
I have a bit of a run in the morning. Nothing special, very low intensity, in fact it will involve a chunk of walking. But it is all with the end goal of running properly again in mind. For the first time in a long time I feel like that goal might be attainable.
